Meet the Team

About us

As designer makers of beautiful, timeless curtain poles, our roots lie in the supply of luxury curtain poles to the interior design trade, with a particular emphasis on unusual finishes, an extensive colour palette and hand finishing. All designed for individuals who want a distinctive, designer product.

Walcot House is  a small dedicated UK company, started in 1999 by our founder, Samantha Sandberg, who still works in the business today.

Our new online venture has evolved with the desire to simplify our component based, bespoke product range for our trade customers, and has also resulted in making our collection more accessible to a wider audience of professionals.

We welcome all bona fide trade enquiries, and offer different discount structures from the prices shown for volume orders and regular repeat customers. See our trade section for more info, or apply for an account.

How it happens

We love what we do, and get great satisfaction from designing and producing window dressing products from our inspiring Cotswold based studios that are just that little bit different.

Hand dyed paper twines, which we painstakingly wrap around finials.

We are at the end of the phone, with many years experience dealing with complex, top end window dressing projects.

Where it all began

Back in 1999, our founder, Samantha Sandberg, sold her London based curtain making business and, using the proceeds, set about a new venture. A year later, Walcot House was in business, supplying John Lewis with innovative contemporary eyelet curtains, curtain poles and accessories.

After exhibiting at Decorex, in central London (a top end trade show for interior design professionals), Walcot House gained a trade following, and to this day continues to supply many of the interior designers, soft furnishers and curtain makers we first met there.

Moving with the times, Walcot's founder, intrigued by the efficiencies and opportunities e-commerce had provided her as a customer, embarked on an e-commerce project to provide Walcot House customers with the same benefits.

The project, headed up by Sam's 21 year old daughter Alice, had a simple brief: Make Walcot House curtain poles easier to order and more accessible to a wider audience of professionals.

And here is the result of Alice's labour of love. Luxury curtain poles, delivered direct to your door, at the click of a button. We hope you like them as much as we do!

Measuring Guide

What curtain pole length do I need?

Walcot House measuring guide for curtain poles

Measure the width of your window (cm)

Add a minimum of 15cm either side, preferably more, but for full curtains or wide windows allow at least 25cm if you have the room, excluding finials (decorative pole ends).

Choose a stock length or cut to size yourself for non standard lengths (we promise it's really easy!)
Helpful tip: Ensure there is room for your finials beyond the ends of your pole.
