Back in 1999, company founder, Samantha Sandberg, sold her London based curtain making business and, using the proceeds, set about a new venture. A year later, Walcot House was in business, supplying John Lewis with innovative contemporary eyelet curtains (eyelets were virtually unheard of at the time!), modern curtain poles and innovative, no sew curtain headings.
After exhibiting at Decorex, in central London (a top end trade show for interior design professionals), Walcot House gained a trade following, and to this day continues to supply many of the interior designers, soft furnishers and curtain makers they first met there.
The Walcot team still get great satisfaction from designing and producing window dressing products from their inspiring Cotswold based studios - products that are just that little bit different.
Moving with the times, Walcot's founder, intrigued by the efficiencies and opportunities that e-commerce had provided her as a customer, embarked on an e-commerce project to provide Walcot House customers with the same benefits.
The project, headed up by Sam's 21 year old daughter Alice, had a simple brief: Make Walcot House curtain poles easier to order and more accessible to a wider audience of professionals.
Their new online venture grew and evolved with the desire to simplify their component based, bespoke product range for their trade customers, and has also resulted in making their collection more accessible to an ever growing customer base.
And here is the result of Alice's labour of love. Luxury curtain poles, delivered direct to your door, at the click of a button. All designed for individuals who want a distinctive, designer product.
