How to care for your pole

We Understand that you want to keep your poles looking their best so we've put together this simple care guide

All rings (with the exception of the 19mm passing ring) are fitted with a nylon insert to improve the glide along the pole and reduce abrasion, but regular cleaning of the pole will help maintain a smooth glide.

Stainless Steel

Regular cleaning with white spirit and lubricating with furniture polish on a soft cloth will prevent a tarnish residue forming on the stainless steel pole and ensure a continued smooth glide.

Brushed Bronze & Black Poles

Regular cleaning with white spirit and lubricating with furniture polish on a soft cloth will prevent a residue forming on the pole and ensure a continued smooth glide.

Acrylic Poles

The acrylic pole must be cleaned regularly using Brasso and a soft lint-free cloth to prevent dust building up, which may scratch the pole as the rings pass along the length.

Lacquered Poles

Regular cleaning with furniture polish on a soft cloth will prevent dust building up and ensure a continued smooth glide. Please note: Solvent based cleaners must not be used on lacquered poles.

Wrapped Poles

Ordinary dirt, smudges and water-soluble stains may be removed with mild soap and water.

Use a clean cloth or soft sponge to dab the stain with soapy water. Remove the soap solution by wiping the area with a cloth and clean water. Dry with a soft lint free cloth or towel.

Stained Wood

All our stained poles are finished with wax so it is important to regularly clean off any dust using a soft dry cloth. To get rid of small marks or scratches on the surface of your pole, you can buff it using a soft cloth. Please do not use water or  liquid cleaners as they could remove the protective wax finish on your pole

Measuring Guide

What curtain pole length do I need?

Walcot House measuring guide for curtain poles

Measure the width of your window (cm)

Add a minimum of 15cm either side, preferably more, but for full curtains or wide windows allow at least 25cm if you have the room, excluding finials (decorative pole ends).

Choose a stock length or cut to size yourself for non standard lengths (we promise it's really easy!)
Helpful tip: Ensure there is room for your finials beyond the ends of your pole.
